Wales HIV Testing Week, New Data, Education Update and What’s Ahead

Wales HIV Testing Week: 17–23 November 2025

Wales HIV Testing Week is just around the corner and Fast Track Cymru are honoured to be continuing to partner with Public Health Wales on this initiative.

Wales is, as far as we know, the World’s First Fast Track Nation and we’ll be encouraging everyone across Wales to know their status by accessing free, confidential testing.

Throughout the week, Fast Track Cymru will be:

  • Running community engagement events across Wales

  • Promoting accessible testing options, including postal and community-based testing

  • Engaging with media and various stakeholders around HIV Testing

We’d love your support in sharing our messages, promoting testing locally, regionally and nationally, and joining the conversation online using #HIVTestingWeekWales and #FastTrackCymru

The Stakeholder toolkit is continuing to be updated and will do so throughout the next couple of weeks but please see here for free assets that you can access immediately. Please consider scheduling them into your social media and disseminating this life-saving information across your personal and professional networks Wales HIV Testing Week 2025

New HIV Data for Wales

The latest figures released on 5th November 2025 show a sharp fall in new HIV cases in Wales, alongside record levels of testing. This is a clear sign that our collective efforts are making a real difference. You can read more about the findings here: Drop in new HIV cases amid record HIV testing, prevention and treatment in Wales - Public Health Wales

It’s encouraging to see that both testing and PrEP use have increased, while new HIV transmissions are on the decline. However, there is still much work to be done to expand access to PrEP, raise awareness, and combat the stigma associated with HIV across Wales and beyond. Fast Track Cymru are the only Wales-based charity with a focus on HIV and related conditions; through our regional and national collaborations, we strive to make meaningful progress and we are honoured to have contributed to the heartening data released last week.

This progress underlines the impact of our partnerships and continued investment in prevention, education, and early diagnosis. Thank you to everyone contributing to this incredible progress.

RSE Resources and Art Competition

Don’t forget that our RSE (Relationships and Sexuality Education) resources and national art competition are live! These are designed to help schools, youth workers, and educators deliver inclusive, age-appropriate, empowering education about HIV.

You can explore the resources and learn more about the competition at:
https://fasttrack.wales/hiv-education-for-all-in-wales/

Please share widely with your networks in education and youth services; your engagement helps ensure that every young person in Wales has access to accurate, inclusive HIV education.

The closing date for the Art Competition is FRIDAY 14th November so there are still a few days to get the entries in!

World AIDS Day Senedd Reception – 2nd December 2025

We’ll be hosting our World AIDS Day Reception at the Senedd on Tuesday 2nd December. This event will bring together leaders, partners, and advocates from across Wales to reflect on our progress and renew our shared commitment to ending HIV stigma and transmission. For more information please email fasttrackcities@hiv.wales
